Congregational Roll and upcoming news

St Mary's Cathedral - open, inclusive, welcoming

Dear [First Name]

The AGM of St Mary's Cathedral will take place on 20 November 2016 after the 1030 service. The Annual Report is now available and can be downloaded from the website:

http://thecathedral.org.uk/2015/11/annual-general-meeting-20-november-2016/

In St Mary's we compile the congregational roll afresh each year before the AGM by asking people to fill in a form to indicate that they still consider themselves to be part of the congregation. This form can be filled in online. If you are someone who belongs to the congregation in any way, please fill in this form as it enables us to keep our records up to date. The online form is available here:

Sunday 20 November 2016 is also the day on which we are asked to count the number of people physically in church in order to report the number to the diocese which then passes the numbers on so the annual statistics of the Scottish Episcopal Church can be compiled.

On that Sunday evening we will also be welcoming the Rev Sandy Montgomery who will be installed as a Canon at Choral Evensong.

Those who were in church last Sunday will be aware of a problem with the organ. The organ builder has made an initial assessment. The problem appears to be electrical and we are waiting for a part to be delivered and fitted next Thursday.

On Friday evening this week there will be a concert featuring the Cathedral Choir and other singers to mark the centenary of the end of the Battle of the Somme. There will be an opportunity to contribute to a retiring collection for Unicef. There's more details of this concert on the website:

On Advent Sunday (27 November 2017) and on New Year's Day, Bishop Gregor will be with us at the 10.30 service. Anyone who wishes to enquire about being confirmed or received into the Scottish Episcopal Church should contact me about it as soon as possible.

Also on Advent Sunday there is an Advent Carol Service at 6.30 pm.

It is a busy time as ever!

All good wishes

KELVIN

The Very Rev Kelvin Holdsworth
Provost and Rector
